Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning announced today that the club has acquired right wing Tyler Toffoli from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for Tim Schaller, the Canucks 2020 second round pick in the NHL Entry Draft, rights to unsigned draft choice Tyler Madden and a conditional fourth round pick in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft.
“Tyler brings goal scoring abilities and is good in battles,” said Jim Benning, Canucks General Manager. “He has great offensive instincts and experience playing in high pressure, meaningful games. We look forward to adding his skill and strength to the line-up.”
Toffoli, 27, recorded 34 points (18-16-34) in 58 games for the Kings in 2019-20. The 6’0″, 197-pound right winger led the Kings in goals scored this season (18) and recorded his third career hat trick on Feb. 15/20 at Colorado. He also ranked third on the Kings in scoring.
On the international stage, Toffoli collected a gold medal at the 2015 World Championships with Team Canada, registering five points (2-3-5) in 10 games played.
Selected by the Kings 47th overall in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft, the Scarborough, ON, native has recorded 290 points (139-151-290) in 515 regular-season games, and 21 points (9-12-21) in 47 playoff games. He won the 2014 Stanley Cup as a member of the Kings, registering 14 points (7-7-14) in 26 games during the playoff run.
