Quakes take on current Liga MX leaders for first time ever
SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will face Liga MX’s C.F. Monterrey at Avaya Stadium on Saturday, March 23 at 4:45 p.m. The international friendly marks the first date of the SocioMX Tour 2019 and is the first time that the Quakes will face Monterrey in any competition.
Founded in 1945, C.F. Monterrey is the oldest active professional team in Northern Mexico that plays in Liga MX. Los Rayados have won four Liga MX titles, two domestic cups and three Concacaf Champions League titles, which they won in consecutive years from 2011-13.
So far in the Clausura 2019, Monterrey are in first place with a 3-0-1 record. In the 2018 Apertura competition, they finished fifth overall with a 9-5-3 record and advanced to the playoffs, where they were eliminated by eventual champions Club America in the semifinals.
The match will serve as Bonus Game A for Quakes Season Pass Holders and is included in their ticketing package. Tickets go on sale to the general public on Thursday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. and are available at Ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000. Individual ticket prices start at $25, with special rates available for groups of 10 or more. Group tickets can be purchased by calling the Earthquakes Front Office at 408-556-7700.
The Quakes have an 11-10-10 record in international exhibitions, including an 8-2-6 record in the past 16. Most recently, the Quakes held Liga MX’s Cruz Azul to a scoreless draw in October of last year.
